Born in Washington, D.C.—a city known for its grit, style, creativity, and for producing some of basketball’s greatest players—GloID Ball was built from the blacktop up.

At the heart of GloID is a simple belief: basketball is more than a game. It is culture, confidence, identity, and a vehicle for helping people become something greater.

GloID was founded by Coach Byrd, a coach, educator, mentor, entrepreneur, and basketball leader whose career has been built around creating winning traditions—on and off the court.

As a collegiate head coach and a Division I assistant coach that went to the NCAA Tournament, Byrd built one of the region’s most successful programs, compiling a 105–43 record and surpassing 100 career victories in less than five full seasons of competition. His teams captured conference and district championships, earned a national tournament appearance, and produced five consecutive 20-win seasons.His leadership earned him Conference Coach of the Year and District Coach of the Year honors.

But the impact extended far beyond wins and championships.

Under his leadership, players earned numerous individual honors, including a National Player of the Year, three consecutive Conference Players of the Year, 12 All-Conference selections, and Academic All-American recognition.His coaching philosophy has always centered on developing the complete person—not simply the basketball player.

That philosophy is captured in a belief that has guided his career:

Byrd has also spent more than a decade directing and developing Nike Basketball Camps and Clinics, working with young athletes, coaches, families, and basketball communities while helping create environments centered around player development, confidence, instruction, and opportunity.

Those experiences became part of the foundation for GloID Ball.
